The Dallas Cowboys Legend is on his way to put off a grand music festival for his hometown according to a Dallas Morning News article from October 31 which reports,
“Troy Aikman has decided to become a music festival producer.
He wants to put Henryetta on the world’s music map.
Aikman has raised tens of millions of dollars for his favorite causes, including more than $60 million raised when he headed United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ 2017-18 annual campaign.
Aikman wants to pay it forward to Henryetta for making him the man he is today.”
The music festival’s headliner will be Blake Shelton who was messaged by Troy Aikman before the latter left Ohio according to a Dallas Morning News article from October 31 which states,
“Blake Shelton, the country music star and judge of The Voice, will headline “Troy Aikman’s Highway to Henryetta,” a one-day country music marathon on June 11 in Henryetta, Okla.
Aikman wants to raise money for his hometown and needed some star power. Shelton, an Oklahoma native who has a home in Tishomingo, Okla., was a natural choice for his celebrity appeal and affinity for the state.
“I said, ‘Hey, Blake, I’m going to host a music festival in my hometown Henryetta on June 11,’” Aikman said, reading the actual text. “’It’ll be first class in every way … I wanted to see if we can talk with your folks about you headlining it. We want an Oklahoma presence, and you’re my first choice. I know these asks can be a pain in the ass, and I don’t want it to be for you, so if you want to put me in contact with your manager that’s cool, too. Appreciate you.’
A lot of Aikman’s fans and supporters back home were delighted to hear about the first ever music marathon in Henryetta as they expressed their excitement and support in a Facebook post. One said,
“YAY!! Toby Keith, you’ve ALWAYS been Henrietta’s Hometown Hero. Good move, Good job, Good for you.”
One also shared,
“I grew up in Okmlugee literally 13 miles north of here. This is gonna be awesome. Hopefully I can get tickets!”
One also said in a shared post,
“So cool can’t wait ”
Lastly, a woman also expressed her desire to help with the festival,
“I would love to volunteer to help with this event.”
Clearly, the excitement and support are brewing so much even though the music festival is set to take place next year on June 11.
