A fresh bagel sensation, Lubbies Bagels, has debuted in East Dallas, delighting locals at its spot on Peavy Rd. Sisters Andrea and Jennifer Lubkin are behind this indie gem, which has quickly gained a devoted following, according to a CultureMap Dallas article. They say,
“Dallas’ raging affair with bagels continues, with a new shop opening in a high-profile spot in East Dallas: Called Lubbies Bagels, it’s an indie concept from sisters Andrea Lubkin and Jennifer Lubkin, which opened softly on August 2 at 1160 Peavy Rd.
The shop already has a bit of a cult following because #1 bagels and #2, it took over the space previously occupied by the revered 20 Foot Seafood Joint, in the same shopping center at the corner of Garland Road as Goodfriend and Hello Dumpling. (20 Foot closed during the pandemic in March 2020, never to reopen, and East Dallas people have still not really gotten over it.)”
Lubbies Bagels took over 20 Feet Seafood Joint’s spot, adopting a cozy “bubbie’s kitchen” vibe with stylish touches, according to a Dallas Morning News article which says,
“Lubbies is in the space formerly occupied by 20 Feet Seafood Joint, right next to Goodfriend Burger and Hello Dumpling. It has been transformed into a cozy, stay-a-while vibe the sisters call “bubbie’s kitsch-en” and “glammy grammy.” Soft yet happy blues and greens are paired with rose-colored accents on cushy chairs, sleek marble counters, a white tile backsplash, and a floral wallpaper you’ll want in your own home.
“We want you to feel like you’re in bubbie’s kitchen, having a nosh,” Andrea says.
“Bubbie’s is a little fancy, a little glamorous, but never pretentious and always comfortable,” adds Jen, who has a corporate background and is the “business brain” of the duo.”
The Lubbies Bagels is set to debut on August 2 at 1160 Peavy Road, Dallas, offering a limited menu and hours. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
