Project Pollo heads to Shark Tank

May 26, 2022 by Debbie 1 Comment

Texas based Project Pollo’s Lucas Bradbury will be heading to the Shark Tank to pitch his business venture and its future to the five big shots of the show according to a My San Antonio article from May 19. They say,

“Bradbury says his conversation with the five industry titans including Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjavec, Daymon John, Barbara Corcoran, and Lori Greiner lasted about an hour. He’s curious to see how the pitch is edited for airtime. Bradbury says the filming coincided with Project Pollo’s first anniversary on September 18, 2021.

Bradbury is not able to disclose if the sharks bit, of course, but he is happy with the exposure Project Pollo will receive from its first national television appearance.

“I’m excited to tell our story to a large audience,” he adds. “As we continue to grow a brand and focus on changing the future of sustainable consumption, we really wanted to make an impact and let a large audience know exactly what we’re trying to do.”

While his venture is going on a roll in Texas with its success, people are wondering why Project Pollo does not immediately come off as a vegan restaurant since its name does not indicate so according to a Dallas Morning News article from May 18 which reports,

“This is a great question. Project Pollo is not built around being an in-your-face vegan brand that’s trying to persuade people to be vegan or vegetarian. The focus of Project Pollo is creating a foundation for the future of a sustainable QSR [quick service restaurant] concept. … It uses a lot less land, uses a lot less water, uses a lot less greenhouse gases and does something that’s more sustainable for the planet [than other restaurants]. … So our focus is the future of sustainability in mass consumption.

Now, we do put on the menu that it’s “powered by plants.” But again, I don’t want to be in-your-face vegan.

It just so happens our protein is made from real plants. That’s it.

Aside from branching out dozens of locations and becoming a national hit, Bradbury has bigger dreams and intentions: He wants to give out food to people and give back to the community as these are the things he wants to venture more.
