After 34 years, Matt’s Rancho Martinez, a popular Tex-Mex restaurant in Dallas, is closing its Skillman Street location. The owner said it was time for a change, according to an WFAA article. They say,
“The popular Tex-Mex restaurant Matt’s Rancho Martinez is closing its Dallas location on Skillman Street after 34 years, the business announced on Saturday morning via posts to its Facebook page and website.
“When you get started in this industry there’s a lot of hope. You have a lot of dreams,” owner Matt Martinez III said. “It was time. After 35 years of leasing businesses, we just wanted a change.””
Nick Martinez, restaurant co-owner, stated they’re relocating to the Allen store, almost twice as big as the Lakewood location. The company wants to invest in the Allen property, which they own, and exit their leases. They cherished their time in Lakewood, according to a Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate article. They say,
“Nick Martinez, an owner of the restaurant, said the company has been moving the operation to the Allen store, which is almost twice as large as the one in Lakewood. They want to invest in the Allen property, which the restaurant owns, and get out of their leases.
“We loved our stint here in Lakewood,” Martinez said.”
The Martinez family, famous for Matt’s El Rancho in Austin, owned Matt’s Rancho Martinez in Dallas for 34 years. Thankful for the memories, the family is closing their Lakewood location.
