La Casita Bakeshop, led by James Beard-nominated chef Maricsa Trejo, will take over coffee and pastry service at Half Price Books’ Dallas flagship, replacing Black Forest Coffee’s 20-year stint, according to a WFAA article. They say,
“La Casita Bakeshop, the coffee shop by James Beard-nominated pastry chef Maricsa Trejo, will soon serve coffee and pastries at Half Price Books’ flagship location on Northwest Highway in Dallas.
La Casita Bakeshop will replace Black Forest Coffee, which moved out of Half Price Books after more than 20 years.”
Maricsa Trejo plans to open her new restaurant in two to three months at Half Price Books’ Dallas location, transitioning from coffee and pastries by day to a lively tiki bar and patio by night, according to a Dallas Express article. It reports,
“The Dallas Morning News reported that Maricsa Trejo expects to debut the new restaurant in two to three months, taking the place of Black Forest Coffee at the bookstore on Northwest Highway.
“We wanted to create a space for people to come during the day for coffee, pastries, and lunch, and a fun, dynamic tiki bar with a patio to enjoy drinks and great food in the evening,” Half Price Books CEO Sharon Anderson Wright told DMN. “With Maricsa being an award-winning baker, Alex [Henderson] being a great chef, and our exciting in-store events, we are creating something really special here.””
Half Price Books, established in 1972 in Dallas, will introduce its first all-day restaurant with La Casita. Initially serving breakfast and lunch, dinner and cocktails will follow upon obtaining a liquor license.
