Not even the world of online gaming is spared. A Dallas-based pro-gamer that uses the handle “Fearless” has opened up about the discrimination he’s experienced according to a Polygon article from April 6th. In it they say:
“During a Twitch stream this week, Dallas Fuel player Lee “Fearless” Eui-seok spoke about the racism he and his team members have experienced while training in Dallas. Lee, who is South Korean, discussed living in the U.S. during the pandemic, in a state that has rolled back pandemic restrictions — including a mask mandate — while COVID-19 continues to spread, with new surges of disease variants popping up all around the country”
His team, Dallas Fuel, is entirely comprised of Asians according to a Metro Co. UK article from April 8th. In it they say:
“Fuel’s Overwatch League roster is made up of eight players and three coaches, all of whom hail from South Korea. Speaking on his own Twitch stream, Fearless revealed that the group have been targetted outside and around their training headquarters.”
Fearless has described events like him and his teammates being coughed on, harassed, and targeted outside of their training HQ.
