Dallas’ New Swim Club called Lee Harvey’s Dive In

May 5, 2022 by Debbie Leave a Comment

A swim club claiming to be the best diver bar in Dallas is going all-out this summer with their outdoor bar, pool, cabanas and even an outdoor oasis according to a CultureMap Dallas article from April 14. They say,

“Revered Dallas bar Lee Harvey’s is often affectionately dubbed the best dive bar and now they’re taking that literally: This popular destination in the Cedars neighborhood south of downtown is spinning off a new sibling right next door called Lee Harvey’s Dive In featuring a pool, cabanas, and outdoor oasis.

It’s a new swim club opening directly across the street, in an unoccupied corner lot at 1315 Beaumont St. that’s been empty for nearly 20 years.

It’ll be an outdoor bar, open summer and fall, centered on a pool which sharp-eyed Lee Harvey’s patrons have witnessed being dug. It’ll be a lounging pool, five feet at its deepest, with 30 X 60 feet of surround seating in the water.”

Owner of the diver bar, Seth Smith, is anticipating good results from his business venture which he eventually plans to add programs with in the future according to a Dallas Observer article from April 27 which says,

“Our numbers at Lee Harvey’s would always slip during the summer because it gets too hot,” Smith says. “We’d hear people say, ‘We’ll come back when it cools off a little bit.’”

“It passed the test of kicking the can around thinking whether it would work or not,” Smith says. “Here we are with fingers crossed hoping it will be a success.”

“We may even do some aerobics and swim classes once we get our footing,” Smith says. “We’ve been approached by some neighborhood ladies who were like, ‘We want to do aerobics in the morning,’ and I’m like we’re on that.

“The more we can use it, the better,” Smith adds. “We like to include everyone.”

Currently, there are many places in Dallas that offer a place with a pool. The problem is that most of them are in hotels and the pools are pool bars. As such, only hotel guests and clients are allowed in the premises. Thanks to Lee Harvey’s Dive In, more people are welcomed into pool places this coming summer.
