Dallas Lovers get married on air

May 10, 2022 by Debbie 1 Comment

An Oklahoma City couple were set to marry in Las Vegas but ultimately ended up getting married mid-flight after the flight’s pilot offered to marry them instead according to a Fox 31 article from May 6. They say,

“When the lovebirds arrived at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) from the Will Rogers World Airport (OKC), they found out their connection to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) was canceled after several delays. A passenger and ordained minister by the name of Chris, who was also traveling from DFW to LAS, overheard the couple’s predicament and “offered to marry the couple himself!” according to the post.

The couple was traveling in their wedding attire all day Sunday. So, when they “boarded the flight, their Pilot, Captain Gil, noticed Patterson’s wedding dress and asked her about it,” the Facebook post said. Then they joked with the captain that they should just tie the knot on the flight.

“For the second time that week, Pam was surprised to hear the words, ‘Let’s do it!’” according to the post.”

Southwest Airlines, of course, took delight in the unexpected ceremony as their flight crew took part in fixing the airplane venue according to a KSAT article from April 29 which reports,

“Our Flight Crew sprung into action with toilet paper streamers and a snack mix sash for Chris. Julie, one of our Flight Attendants, stood in as Pam’s Maid of Honor. A professional photographer on the flight pulled out her camera for official wedding photos. Another Passenger passed around an old notebook for the whole cabin to sign with well wishes and their seat numbers, which was given to the bride and groom as a makeshift guestbook,” the airline added.

“Southwest has been the love airline for nearly 51 years, and we always enjoy an opportunity to celebrate our Customers in special ways. Pam and Jeremy’s impromptu inflight wedding on Sunday, April 24 (Flight 2690: DAL-LAS) is the latest example of our Employees’ Hearts for creating specials moment for our Customers. We were thrilled to play host to Pam and Jeremy’s special day. Our Employees are famous for their Heart and Hospitality, and we know our Crew, our Customers, and the couple will remember this flight for a long time to come. We offer our congratulations to the newlyweds and well wishes on their new life together.”

Even more amazing, the passengers too took part in the wedding as they all participated in the ceremony. All the passengers were delighted in the marriage as they gave their thanks and congratulations to the newly-weds.
