After escaping its enclosure and prompting a Code Blue in the zoo for several hours, Nova, the zoo’s clouded leopard, was found in the zoo premises according to a Dunya News article. They say,
“The Dallas Zoo said its missing clouded leopard was found unharmed on zoo property Friday evening, hours after the animal had been reported missing from her habitat.
The zoo was closed to the public earlier Friday and police were summoned to the facility to help search for Nova.
The zoo said the animal, a female named Nova, was being evaluated by its veterinary staff.
In a tweet Friday evening, Dallas Zoo officials said Nova was found just before 5:15 p.m. local time and “initial indications are she is not injured.”
After investigations, the Dallas police found a peculiar opening on the leopard’s enclosure and a subsequent hole in the enclosure of the Langurs. Fortunately, all monkeys were accounted for according to a NBC News article. They say,
“On Saturday, police said a cutting tool was used to create an opening in the fencing of the leopard’s habitat. A similar cut was also found at the habitat for a breed of monkey called a langur, police said.
All the langurs were accounted for and “did not appear to be harmed, or in any danger,” police said. They said it wasn’t clear if the two incidents were related.
Surprisingly, it was a squirrel which tipped off the staff about the whereabouts of Nova after being extremely vocal during the search.
