Brix Barbecue to open a new restaurant with rooftop bar in Fort Worth’s Southside district in March 2023, according to owner Trevor Sales, according to a Dallas Morning News article which says,
“In a town that already has stiff barbecue competition, another highly anticipated contender is about to open its doors in Funkytown. After purchasing a building in Fort Worth’s sparky Fairmount-Southside district a year and a half ago, Brix Barbecue owner Trevor Sales will open his first brick-and-mortar restaurant with a crowning rooftop bar next month in March 2023, just in time for patio season.
Unlike some pitmasters, Sales doesn’t come off as a highbrow barbecue brainiac, but he’s confident that he makes some of the best brisket in the state. In Texas, a well-smoked brisket is “a prerequisite for owning a barbecue joint,” he says. He calls it an art form that many classically trained chefs can’t pull off. He’s upfront, however, that his brisket is stellar because he started by making a lot of bad barbecue. “My first brisket could have killed somebody,” he jokes.”
Brix Barbecue’s new brick-and-mortar location with an indoor and outdoor bar, dining room, large patio, and a second smoker, may experience a delay in opening due to retrofits, according to a fortworth article. They say,
“Last year Sales announced that he would open this new location on the Near Southside to appease the almost two-hour wait time customers were enduring to taste his barbecue. This new brick-and-mortar location is set to include an indoor and outdoor bar, dining room, large patio, and a second smoker to boot. So, you can see why everyone is biting at the bit to check it out.
But given the process Sales says he is currently going through to retrofit this over 2,000 square foot space, it could be a few more months before the doors to this much anticipated spot will open.
“When you buy a place like this, they kind of don’t tell you everything up front along the way,” Sales says while prepping for meal service in the parking lot of his current location at 215 South Main Wednesday. “We can’t use the waterline going to the building for this system, we have to have a dedicated line that will have a certain amount of pressure going to it. It’s just turned into a debacle dealing with the city.””
Sales is eager to open the new Brix Barbecue location as soon as possible and is doing everything in his power to make it happen.
