Vintage card collector Leonhart will be handing over his Pokemon cards amounting to $500,000.00 to an event in Dallas according to a Dallas Morning News article from January 28 which reports,
“I’m opening up PokĂ©mon cards and stuff for a living … I don’t think it’s ever going to end. I’m going to be 55 and still doing this,” Dallas-area SMU grad Lee Steinfeld, who turned 35 a few days ago, joked this week.
The attorney is better known as “Leonhart” — the name he publishes videos under on YouTube, where 1.58 million users subscribe to his Pokémon-themed channel.
And Steinfeld says he will effectively give away around $500,000 worth of his own, vintage, unopened base set Pokémon card collection to attendees who purchased $55 entry tickets for the event, which he said sold out “immediately.”
The awaited sold-out event did not disappoint as it held different programs and livestreams which culminated into a drone performance featuring favorite Pokemons Charizard and Pikachu according to a Nerdist article from January 31. In it they say,
“Sky Elements Drone Shows partnered with Pokémon Master Leonhart for a massive performance. They used 250 custom-built drones to bring two beloved characters to life above the Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas, Texas. With an homage that even paid tribute to the act of opening up a pack.
The show began with Pokémon packs turning into two cards, which then transformed into Pikachu and Charizard. After powering up the two iconic characters went to battle with the night sky as their arena. With a fight that measured a whopping 600 feet wide and 300 feet high.
Thanks to the drone’s super bright LED lights the show was visible from several miles away. It was also able to overcome some less than ideal weather. Winds gusts measured 20 miles-per-hour during the show. But Sky Elements says that wasn’t a problem because every single drone has a GPS accuracy of less than ten centimeters.”
Leonhard explicitly stated that the event will probably cause him a huge amount of money and that he will incur losses. However, this is no issue for him since the event will definitely make him incredibly fulfilled.
